Introduction

On May 5, 2025, the Bay Area Founders Club social media team attended a deeply inspiring “View from the Top” fireside chat at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, featuring Luis von Ahn, Co-Founder and CEO of Duolingo. A Guatemalan-born computer scientist turned serial entrepreneur, von Ahn pioneered CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA before setting his sights on education at scale.

With over 46 million daily users, Duolingo is today’s most downloaded education app. Von Ahn’s radical commitment to making quality education free and delightful for all was on full display in this wide-ranging conversation.
